Lodging
As a service to our customers, we proudly offer boarding for dogs, cats, birds, pocket pets, and exotics. Space is somewhat limited, so call early to reserve your pets' " room at the inn"! We also offer pet day care, for special needs pets or puppies in training.
Because we are not a large facility, and hand walk your pets, they feel more at home than in a huge boarding kennel. We truly do treat your pets like family! Plus, they have a built-in Dr. available if they have any health problems develop during their stay!
To protect staff and other boarders, pets must be up to date on their physicals, vaccines, fecal and heartworm checks to board. For dogs this involves proof of vaccination against Distemper, Parvovirus, Rabies, and Bordetella, a fecal and heartworm check during the past year.
Cats need proof of vaccination against Distemper and the respiratory viruses, Rabies, and Feline Leukemia (or an annual negative blood test, if you opt not to vaccinate), and fecal check within the year. Pets dropped off with fleas will be treated to eliminate the problem, at your expense. After all, we don't want to "share" the flea problem with other pets!
Pocket pets need their cages and food provided, as do reptiles. Birds need to have proof of an annual physical by an avian veterinarian, and a negative test for Parrot Fever (chlamydia). If your bird's cage is too large to bring, we may have a loaner for them to use.
Pets are housed in individual stainless steel cages, with a fluffy pad and mat to sit on. There are 2 dog "runs" for especially large or active dogs. Special disinfectants are used to clean cages daily, and staff wash their hands between pets.
Pets think of their cages as dens, or security, not prison. After all, they might quarrel if they all ran free! Pets receive fresh food and water daily. Dogs get a Kong to chew on, and daily treats and Cheeweze while boarding. Please tell us if your pet is on a special diet, or cannot handle treats.
It is preferable to bring along a supply of your pet's regular food to minimize digestive upsets. If you don't drop off your own food, pets are fed Iams or Proplan dry premium food. Cat's litter boxes are cleaned at least twice daily, and TLC is given more than that!
Dogs are walked outside for fun and exercise on the grounds. Zoning does not allow indoor/outdoor runs, but last year we added a large 60X100 foot fenced exercise/fun area to the rear of the clinic. The deluxe boarding option can be checked on the admission form to ensure extra exercise time, for an additional reasonable fee.
Special needs pets, requiring daily medications, injections (like diabetics), or close watching are a specialty of ours. All pets receive a physical by Dr. Pappas or Collen upon admission. If no vaccines are due, this is a complimentary one! If your pet boards 7 days or more, it will receive a complimentary bath as well! While your pet would rather be with you on your trip, we do everything possible that they feel at home with us.
