Our Facility
Welcome to our hospital! West Geauga Veterinary Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital, treating dogs, cats, birds, reptiles, pocket pets, and small exotics. We are skilled in exams, vaccinations, dentistry, internal medicine, senior pet care, general and orthopedic surgery, nutritional and behavioral counseling. At West Geauga we set our standards high, and treat your pet like family.
Reception Area
- Our large, 2 level brick facility has a spacious waiting area, with 2, separated seating areas. Skylights, complimentary coffee and water, kiddie play area, information board , walk-on weigh scale and small retail section complete the area.
Office
- The large central office area is surrounded by counters, with no tiny window to try to talk through. Full size individual patient files fill 1 side of the area, with computers, phones and copier on the counters. Clients are welcome to use a complimentary phone, if needed.
Exam Rooms
- The 3 exam rooms have Corian counters, and small shuttered windows that open to the office, so there is no cause for claustrophobia. Exam equiptment, and disinfectant cleaner are on the counter. Medicated shampoos and supplements are stocked in the room. One exam room is extra large, with a hydraulic lift table, good for big dogs and bad backs!Laboratory Area
- The lab, X-ray, boarding/treatment area and surgery are in the back of the upper level. Lab equiptment includes 2 microscopes, centrifuges, staining materials, CBC and Abaxis Chemistry machines. The new 300 MA X-ray machine,capable of dental x-rays) developing room, and view box are there also.Boarding
- There are 2 runs and a bank of stainless steel cages upstairs, and extra cages in the lower level for boarders. Pets have ID necklaces on while boarding for identification. Charts hang on the pet's cages, to document their care and medical needs.Prep Area
- The prep area has a tub table where pets are treated, and anesthesia is begun for surgery before they transfer to the surgery table. A high-speed dental unit allows for high-tech dentistry. Dental cleaning and polishing--a dental "prophy"-- are routinely scheduled here weekdays. A bank of stainless steel cages, with mats and fluffy pads, fill 1 wall, for surgery patients to recover in under our watchful eye. Oxygen pipes into the room for the anesthetic machine, and waste gas is scavenged off.Surgery
- The surgery room is the cleanest room in the hospital, as it should be. A carbon dioxide LASER enables us to perform surgery with less bleeding, less risk, and less pain. A stainless steel table lifts and V's for patients. Monitors for EKG, a pulse oximeter, core body temperature, blood pressure, respiratory rate are routine for all surgeries. A hot water circulating pad is in use for every surgery, to keep your pet warm safely. Sterile instruments, gloves and gown are used , as well. A high-tech incubator, with oxygen cage and nebulizer capabilities, can be used for post-surgery patients or critical care.
Outside
- The 2 level brick building has parking near the front entrance for clients. The wooden deck ramp makes our hospital handicapped-accessible, and helps dogs with joint problems, as well as deliverymen!. The landscaping with flowers and shrubs is for people and pooches to enjoy! A large, 60X100 ft. fenced exercise/play area in the rear of the clinic is a joy for dogs and staff and owners. Parking at the lower level is for staff and obedience class participants.
